Attendance is of paramount importance at Thorplands Primary School. Children need to attend school regularly in order to make excellent progress and become successful learners, prepared for the next stage in their educational journey. The whole school attendance target is 97% and above. Children across the school are aware of how important attending school regularly is and there are a range of incentives to promote excellent attendance:
- A positive school culture in which the profile of attendance is visible
- Class attendance on display in the school
- Termly certificates that celebrate 100% attendance
- Letters sent home to parents celebrating improved and outstanding attendance
If a child’s attendance becomes a concern a member of the senior leadership team will have a meeting with parents and carers to identify the cause and offer appropriate support. The school works closely with the Educational Inclusion & Partnership Team.
