It has been another enjoyable term for the Thorplands Sports teams. We have had a variety of clubs going on from Boccia, Basketball, Rugby and Kurling.

The children have done brilliantly representing the school. They have competed in Girls Football, Rugby, Kurling, Sitting Volleyball, Boccia and swimming – the first time we have taken part in a swimming gala.

The most impressive performances came when the Year 5 and 6 Girls finished 3rd in the Rugby tournament, our Key Stage 2 team finished 2nd in the Boccia tournament (qualifying for the County Finals) and we won the Sitting Volleyball. Our Year 3 and 4 football team also beat Blackthorn in a game!

All in all, it has been a very positive term and we are looking forward to next term already!

What a fantastic year Thorplands have had – again. The children have once again taken part in a variety of competitions and activities.

The highlight has to be representing Northampton at the County Finals in Archery, with 2 teams. 1 of our teams finished 3rd in the County which in itself was a fantastic achievement. This was eclipsed by our other team who came out as winners!!!

We have also competed in a variety of other sports. These included a football tournament for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Cricket for 3 different teams and Tennis for Years 3 and 4.

The children have done really well in school too. We had a great Sports Day in the sunshine and the PE lessons have kept rolling on.

8 children also had the privilege of attending Wimbledon where we watched a variety of players including Serena Williams.

Thorplands have continued their hugely successful sporting success this term. Our KS2 Boccia team went to the County Finals and came within inches of winning the Gold medal. They were very happy with being the 2nd best team in Northamptonshire though!

We entered 3 teams into the Town Archery Competition recently. With over 50 teams involved competition was high. Another amazing effort saw Thorplands finishing in both 2nd and 3rd position! We now have a team going through to the Summer County Finals in July.

It was also really pleasing to see over 30 children represent Thorplands in the Town Cross Country competition. There were a few very impressive individual performances but the most enjoyable aspect was seeing children pull on the Thorplands top for the first time and giving their best. Well done children!

Spring 1 Term has started very impressively. Children from Year 3 went to take part in a badminton festival where they learnt lots of new skills.

Our Year 5 and 6 Basketball team took part in a group stage tournament and ended up winning it very impressively. They are now through to the Town finals!

Also winning in very impressive style was our KS2 Boccia team. They won the Town Finals, receiving a Gold medal. They will now go on to represent Northampton in the County Finals!

We have continued with our positive start in Sport this year. More teams have entered sports competitions with quite a lot of success.

Some children from Year 3 and 4 went to play in a football tournament at ‘Goals’ and competed very well against some strong teams. We also had a Year 5 and 6 Gymnastics team take part in a competition. They should be very pleased with their efforts.

Perhaps the best performance was that of our Year 5 and 6 girls Rugby team. They came so very close to winning the Town competition, but losing the last game resulted in a third place finish.
