Welcome to Year 2

In Year Two, we have a conscientious and dedicated team who believe in planning and teaching a curriculum that builds on the knowledge and skills that have developed in Year 1. We continue to work in partnership with parents and build on the good relationships that have already been started. This is echoed with the team of adults that support the children in Key Stage One. In Years One and Two, the children and adults work closely together. This helps to build strong and secure relationships where children feel safe and secure. This ensures that the children can thrive and have lots of opportunities and support to fulfil their potential.

Year Two is about challenge; we encourage the children to challenge themselves and inspire the children to be the best that they can be. We all work hard to make the climate in our classroom just right, so that mistakes can be celebrated and shared, because Year Two children know that every mistake is an opportunity to learn. We work hard to support each other and treat each other with respect and kindness; this is vital to build a supportive environment where every child can thrive.

Curiosity and questioning is crucial; the children in Year Two love to ask and answer questions as well share their own ideas with their peers. The ultimate aim in Year Two, is to continue to inspire our children to love learning and to ensure that they are ready to embark on the next part of their journey, into Key Stage 2.
