Welcome to Year 5

Year 5 have the privilege of having TWO teachers this year (Mr Stewart teaches Mondays and Tuesdays whilst Mrs Judge teaches Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays).  We work well together and are keen to ensure the children have a positive experience in class each and every day.

Our aim is to build on the good work that has gone before us in previous years and begin to prepare the children for their move to secondary school.

We cover a wide range of subjects in class and try to provide additional experiences that we know will enhance their learning at Thorplands. This may be a trip to a different venue, inviting a visitor into school or simply spending a day taking part in a completely different activity than usual. We want the children to be well rounded individuals.

In Year 5, we place an emphasis on building relationships and we want the children to enjoy their time together, building friendships that will last. It also goes without saying that we want the children to become confident learners who are able to attempt each activity that they are presented with to the best of their ability.
